A single malt with distinctive rich vanilla oak, honeyed sweetness and layers of spices. On the nose, it is elegant with a taste that is sweet with dried fruits, sherbet spice, toasted almonds and cinnamon, layered with a richness of creamy toffee notes.
To craft The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 year old single malt whisky Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE returned to one of his most celebrated achievements consecutive maturation in two different types of cask, a process often referred to as cask finishing. This technique is at the heart of The Balvenie DoubleWood see's the whisky matured first in American oak barrels, which impart soft sweet vanilla notes, before being transferred to European oak sherry casks, where the second cask ageing adds rich spicy flavours and a depth and fullness of flavour. Raw Craft is an online film series from The Balvenie and Anthony Bourdain celebrating all things craft. In the Raw Craft series, Bourdain traveled across America to discover the unique skills of some of its most talented and dedicated craftspeople, from hand-tailored suits to cast iron skillets, to snare drums made out of whisky casks. Anthony was our dear friend and collaborator, and he is greatly missed. His legacy and influence live on through the love of raw craft.
